MATERIAL DONATION CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Reduction and reuse are effective ways in saving natural resources, protecting our environment, and saving money.

A lot of the different materials that end up in landfills contain toxins that are eventually released and seep into the soil and groundwater. These substances are major hazards to the environment and can last for several years. For example, think of electronics such as computers, batteries and televisions that get thrown out and end up in landfills. These products contain substances like arsenic, acids, lead and others which eventually end up in our environment and pose threats to public health.

Mercury is another toxic substance that frequently appears in landfills. It comes from fluorescent light bulbs and poses major health risks. Inhaling even a small amount of mercury vapor can harm our kidneys and cause respiratory failure. Pollution that is always present whenever we need to harvest new raw materials and green house gas emissions that contribute to global climate change.

Instead of discarding unwanted appliances, tools or clothes, why not try selling them or donating them. Not only will you be reducing waste, you’ll be helping others. The most effective way to reduce ways is to not create it in the first place. Making a new product requires a lot of materials and energy, raw materials must be extracted from the earth, and the product must be fabricated then transported to wherever it will be sold.

And so, Material Donation is aiming to prevent usable goods from going into landfills and to use these products in their fullest extent.

Criteria

This project is efficient that it doesn’t need much money to pursue instead it saves money and energy in making a new product.

It can help sustain the environment for future generation.

It is very beneficial to our environment. It prevents pollution, reduces greenhouse gas emmissions and tax benefits may be availabe.

Steps to Accomplish

The Lend A Hand campaign shall need a support from government officials and to the people of the community. We will explain to them the benefits and the impact to our environment inorder for them to cooperate more.

After that, we will talk about how to achieve these by scheduling the day they can donate in their respective barangay’s and what material can they donate. In this way, donating materials can make a difference to our environment.

When will the project happen?

This project will be happening in every barangay starting on August, 2020.

Where will the project take place?

We will go and accept donations in every barangay’s and will make the old items in good to excellent condition in the town’s of provinces.
